Swift Adobe Community Cleanup Project
Story by Steven Monck Photograph by Gary Campbell
Orland Ca - Orland community leader, Gary Campbell has been organizing a community clean up at the Swift Adobe Monument in Orland California. The monument is located adjacent to the location of Granville Swift, who was the first to settle in the area that became known as Orland. The Swift Adobe Monument is a State of California historical site that has been neglected by the state and has fallen in disrepair. Gary Campbell has named the project as the “Swift Adobe Community Cleanup Project.”
The cleanup event will be held on Sunday, April 22, 2012 from 1:00PM to 4:00PM. Please bring your shovel, rake, weed eater, chain saw and lots of elbow grease. “Everyone” is free to help. Gary has asked people to carpool as much as possible and park away from the cleanup area.
There is lots of community support for this event. Orland Kiwanis, Orland Rotary, Orland Chamber of Commerce and other service clubs will be helping with this event. Orland Ace Hardware provided the paint at cost, R&R Sales Inc. paid for the paint. Alta Marie’s Bakery will have water and ice tea available.
Anyone wanting more information can call EDC Member, Gary Campbell, at (530) 624-4055

This sounds like a good way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Fix up the town with a bunch of friends.
All those volunteers did a terrific job. It is significantly improved. Thanks to all that assisted.
